Legends of Varlaurea: The Dragon Emperor
I The story began in late spring, Varlann Empire, in the tenth year of the Dragon Emperor’s reign. The gentle morning breeze swept across a beautiful meadow, spotted with patches of small white flowers. Stretched to the horizon faraway, a road carved its way through that green sea of grass. As the sun slowly rose from behind the jagged skyline of distain mountains top, and cast its golden rays on a convoy of three carriages and five wagons rolling along that curvy road. Escorting the convoy were four hundred Downer men, clad in black lamellar armour, their spears gleamed under the morning sun like the stars of the night. On each man's back was a short yellow brocade cloak, embroidered with cloud, sword and lion motifs. These were the prestige Brocade Cloak Guards of the Varlann Empire, who in charge of safeguarding the imperial family. The men rode a strange creature, the velelis. What was a velelis? One must be curious. They were a bipedal, horse size, dinosaur-like creature, with
